Part of the McAlester, Oklahoma mystery.
I had thought this was a picture of a couple of boyhood friends of my grandfather in South Philly, but when I scanned and enlarged it, I was able to read some of the signs in the back: Busby Theatre, Palace (Theatre?) and "Queen of the..." A few minutes and searches later, I came upon both the Busby and Palace Theatres in McAlester, OK. And I think that's the Busby Theatre in the distant background. I also found a few "Queen of the... " movie titles; namely "Queen of the Sea," starring Annette Kellerman, 1918.
I suspect that the boy in the foreground is the young man in the other McAlester photos. But I still don't have any knowledge of a family connection to McAlester, Oklahoma. I never thought too much of the more recent photos, as I assumed it was a friend who was traveling. But now that these cover a wider time span, I'm intrigued.
